Hey everyone!
It's been a while since I put a post up and it's now officially summer, so I thought, 'I should probably do a summer inspired outfit or makeup look.' But that's when I remembered that I don't really like summer; the heat, the revealing clothes, holiday makers and all those darn seagulls! Most people would give anything to spend these months by the sea in Cornwall, but lying on the beach slowly turning as red as a tomato is my idea of hell, in fact it kind of bores me.
I'm sure there must be many of you out there who feel the same (although I'm yet to find any). So, I've come up with some tips on surviving the summer holidays for all those people who, like me who would prefer walking through torrential rain than chilling at the beach all day in a bikini.
- All those people- I'm not a fan of crowds, never have been, never will be. But recently I've developed a way to cope: just act like you don't care. It's that simple. If there is somewhere you want to be or something you want to do, but you're hesitating because of all the drunk men and girls with hardly any clothes on,you just have to think that you have a right to do what you want and other people shouldn't stop you from doing that! Most of them you won't even see again and as long as you're around people you enjoy being with, then nobody else should matter.
- Being forced to listen to music you hate- Ever find yourself humming along to that catchy summer tune that you absolutely hate? Yeah, me too. My advice would be to make your own summer playlist and suggest songs from there whenever people are playing music. My personally favourites are: Stornoway, Frank Turner, The 1975, Lana Del Rey and a bit of the Cure.
- Festivals! Festivals! Festivals!- Music festivals have become such a huge thing in the summer and there's so much hype and excitement surrounding them. I've only been to small ones so I don't know what it's like to let's say go to Glastonbury, but I would say if you love music but aren't too keen on the festival vibe, just pick a small one to go too! There are so many really great small festivals and although it's not as 'cool' as going to Bestival, Reading& Leeds or Glastonbury, you can still have a good time and probably not have people falling on your tent in the night or ridiculous queues for the toilets.
- The blistering heat that everyone seems to love- I absolutely hate being hot. I always have done and along with this, I've never particularly liked many summer style clothes. So as you can imagine it causes a bit of a problem when it comes to entering the outside world, but this year I've discovered some clothes that are cool but don't show too much off. Kimonos, loose patterned trousers, flippy shorts, floaty midi or maxi skirts and dresses and cropped cami tops with leggings are all great for the really hot days!
- The dreaded bikini- If you don't feel comfortable in a bikini, you don't have to wear one. But equally, if you don't mind, then go ahead, be my guest!
