Picking up the Pieces | Rockabilly/Pin-up make-up and outfit

*title inspired by Paloma Faith 'Picking up the pieces'*

For a long time, I have loved the 1950's rockabilly/pin-up inspired look, but never really thought of it as something to incorporate into my everyday style.
I think that 'pin-up' is often associated with models in underwear suspenders and burlesque dancers, but in fact the hairstyle, make-up and clothes come from various decades such as the 30's, 40's and 50's. This was a time when the majority of women still dressed conservatively and due to the war had little resources or money, but still wanted both look and feel beautiful.
Celebrities like Paloma Faith, Dita Von Teese, Lana Del Rey and Gwen Stephani are all modern day examples of this unique and daring style.
I decided to try out a more contemporary version of this look combining victory rolls, winged liner, a strong brow, red lips and a few typical rockabilly style patterns such as gingham and polka dots.
I hope you like this look, as I really enjoyed creating and wearing it.

Make-up: Sleek au natural eye palette, Gosh liquid liner, Benefit they're real mascara, Sleek eyebrow kit, Rimmel lasting finish lip liner (Wine), Mac matte lipstick (Viva Glam 1), Bourjois healthy mix foundation (Vanilla), Avon colour trend pressed powder (translucent), Sleek blush (Flushed).

What I'm Wearing: (left) Handmade polka dot halter-neck crop top, White bandeau and Black midi skirt (both New Look). (right) Black off- the shoulder top (New Look) and Blue and white gingham print treggings (Topshop).

Thank you for reading! What do you think of the rockabilly look?x
